For his second example, he factors ax^2+bx+c differently than I’ve taught. I teach decomposition/grouping/cherry picking. They both yield the same result. You can also FOIL first, combine like terms and set the equation = 0 then factor & solve.

Factoring Review
Click on the type of factoring review you need: 1) removing common factors 2) factoring x^2+bx+c 3) factoring ax^2+bx+c by grouping/decomposition/”cherry picking” 4) difference of squares, perfect square trinomials
Function Notation
The first video is better.

Applications of Quadratic Functions
1) Max ball height 2) Find 2 numbers… 3) Maximize area a) 4 walls b) 3 walls (4th wall is a barn/river etc.) For some reason her fencing is in the water. 4) Price that yields max profit.
Functions
This teacher taught it a lot more thoroughly than I did. Good thing for youtube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYQ4epZQ148 Vertical Line Test
Bonus Marks for Term 2
Now that I have your attention… Just wanted to let you know that in order for you to get +2 bonus marks for term 2, you had to register with the following format: Firstname.Lastname.block. For example, if I’m Peter Griffin from block 1-3 then I would register with Peter.Griffin.1-3 A few of you registered with […]

Vertex of a Parabola
The only difference here is the lady moves the “c” value to the left hand side. This doesn’t matter since you’ll have to move it back to the right hand side at the end anyway. Here is the derivation of the formula for the vertex. I don’t recommend you memorize this, rather, just know how […]
Relations (D & R from graph)
Note for Domain: [-1,1] is the same as -1<=x<=1. Whereas (-1,1) is the same as -1<x<1.
A note from your teacher…
January 27, 2012 1) Remember there is block rotation on Monday. Order goes like this: 2-4, 2-3, 2-2, 2-1. 2) Math 11 Precalc: There is a Quadratics Function Test coming up February 7. Start prepping. 3) Last but not least… if your current TAVG mark is 59% or below, I will be sending an interim […]
And the midterm marks are in….
*hot off the press* Your TAVG marks including the midterm: Math 8B: 1-2 Math 10: 1-1, 1-4**, 2-2, 2-3 Math 11: 2-1, 2-4 **remember there’s a glitch with your class. Take the average of AVG from each term. Ms. Yang

Finding the Equation of a Parabola
Converting General Form to Standard Form
Ugh, our workbook regards general form to be: y=ax^2+bx+c and standard form: y=a(x-h)^2+k. Note this video refers to them as standard & vertex form respectively.
